Here is a fun fact, most of us buy watches the wrong way. The dial looks lovely online, it’s in the cart before you’ve thought about your wrist, and then it arrives and looks like a plate strapped to your arm. If you wear artificial jewellery in Pakistan for weddings, Eid or an ordinary day, you already know how much the small pieces matter. Watches are the same. A few minutes of checking before you buy online jewellery or a watch saves you the return, and the sulking that comes with it.
Case size isn’t the number to look at
Everyone shops by case size. 40mm, sounds fine. But two 40mm watches can look completely different on the same wrist.
The measurement that really matters is lug-to-lug. These are the little arms where the strap or bracelet for women attaches to the watch case. Lug-to-lug is the distance from the tip of one lug to the tip of the other. A watch with short, tucked lugs stays neat, while one with long, stretched lugs hangs off the sides of your wrist and looks oversized. Keep the lug-to-lug measurement no longer than your wrist is wide, and you’re mostly safe.
Look at your wrist’s shape too
Measure around the spot where a watch would be worn, just above the wrist bone. Then look at it from the side. Is the top flat, or round like a pipe?
Flat wrists are forgiving but round ones aren't and a long watch will rock around on them. If that’s you, go for shorter lugs.

Think of this as a rough map. Plenty of people look great outside their row.
Thickness is the one nobody warns you about
You can get the diameter perfect and still hate the watches you bought. Thick cases tip forward, catch on sleeves and refuse to go under a cuff. That’s a real problem if you wear fitted kameez sleeves or shirts most days of the week. With slim wrists, try to stay around 10mm or under. Push the watch under your sleeve in the shop. If it fights you, it’ll fight you every day.
Small watches are having a moment
Go back a few decades and men’s watches were small too, mid-30s mm and nobody blinked. The giant ones came later. Now the small ones are back, so if your wrists are slim, good news.
Fair warning though. If you’re used to something big, a small watch feels odd for the first week or so. By week two most people don’t want to go back.
And the whole men’s versus women’s split? Mostly marketing. Women wear men’s watches, men wear small ones, and it works when the size is right. If a bigger watch is loose, a jeweller can take out a link or two for you in minutes.
Be honest about your week
Weddings and dinners call for something slim, with a thin strap and a clean dial. Everyday wear needs a comfortable strap you forget that you are wearing. If you’re running around a lot, go for something sturdier.
Everyone has a watch they bought for the life they imagined and left in a drawer. Buy for the one you have.
The strap does half the work
Swap the strap and the same watch can look vintage, dressy or sporty. Match the strap width to the lugs, because a narrow strap just flops about. Thin straps suit dressy watches, and chunky padded ones belong to sportier styles. Look at the buckle too. A polished gold-tone case with a silver buckle looks like a mistake, even if no one can say why.
Buy Online Jewellery That Suits Your Watch
Wearing It With Bangles and Bracelets
Now for the fun bit. A watch can happily share your wrist, and a couple of bracelets make even a plain everyday one look put together. Bangles work too, and a few glass bangles iarea lovely mix. If you buy online jewellery for this, here’s how I’d do it.
Start with the watch and build around it. A big, bold watch looks best next to slim, delicate pieces, while a tiny, dainty one can handle something chunkier. You can also follow a Jhumka styling guide to coordinate your earrings with your watch and other accessories. Match the mood as well: fine chains for minimal watches and bolder pieces for a chunky one.
Gold with silver or rose gold can look fresh if it looks deliberate. Two-tone watches are easiest, because you can just pick bracelets in the same shades. Two or three pieces are plenty.
Before you hit order
Do you know your wrist width and circumference? Have you found the lug-to-lug number, not only the case size? If you wear sleeves, do you know how thick they are? Can you picture wearing it on a normal day? And have you seen it on a real wrist, not just glossy product photos? If the answer to all five is yes, go ahead.
The short version
To choose the right watch it doesn't have to be the priciest one. All you need is to understand what goes with your style and the size of your wrist. Get the fit right first, then add the personality with straps and bracelets. If you love artificial jewellery in Pakistan, the right watch will make your favourite pieces look even better. And when you buy online jewellery from Zeesy, you can put together a wrist stack that finishes your look.
